Steven Taylor won a matchup of tough 285-pounders Thursday night while helping North Central to a 46-26 win over East Valley in Greater Spokane League wrestling at NC.
Taylor, third at the State 3A meet last year and ranked No. 1 in the classification by Washington Wrestling Report, posted a 9-1 major decision over ninth-ranked Aaron Christiansen.
NC’s Ben Carter (171) pinned Rich Mehlbrech in 38 seconds.
EV’s Braden Berezay powered to a 13-0 major decision over Forest Cuthbert at 152.
The outcome left NC with a 3-1 record and the Knights at 1-3.
Mead 48, Shadle Park 18: Jeremy Golding (135) and Sammy Edminster (140) had back-to-back pins to help vault the Panthers (2-2) past the host Highlanders (2-2). Shadle’s Darren Bunke remained undefeated in league with a 6-4 win over Tyler McLean at 130.
Ferris 53, Rogers 17: The Saxons (1-2) spotted the host Pirates (1-2) a 13-0 lead before storming back. Drew Sharkey, with a pin at 215, and Anthony Canton, with a technical fall at 285, had their first matches after the school’s extended football season.
University 72, Lewis and Clark 0: Keeton Vallance (112) earned a pin with 4 seconds left in his first varsity match as the Titans (4-0) took over first place alone by blanking the visiting Tigers (0-4). U-Hi’s Jacob Patschkowski (160), leading Jackson Schumaker 2-1 in the third round, caught fire for an 8-2 win.
Mt. Spokane 73, Gonzaga Prep 6: The host Wildcats (3-0) defeated the Bullpups (0-4). No details were reported.

Coeur d’Alene 72, Lewiston 47: Connor Williams finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds as the host Vikings (4-1) toppled the Bengals (4-2) in a league opener. Deon Watson’s 16 points led five Vikings in double figures. Lewiston’s 6-foot-7 Justin Podrabsky scored all of his 11 points in the first half.
Selkirk 66, Northport 25: Nick Milliren and Walker Pettis combined for 34 points, 18 rebounds and nine steals as the host Rangers (5-3, 3-1) defeated the Mustangs (2-5, 0-4) at Ione.

Tri-Cities Prep 53, St. John-Endicott 50: Antonio Ledesma and Will Hoppes combined for 32 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, to rally the Jaguars (1-1, 1-1) past the Eagles (2-5, 0-2) at St. John. Dylan Schmick and Cole McCanna combined for 24 points and 20 rebounds for SJE.
Freeman 69, Riverside 47: Jered Hinch and Dylan Maine combined for 32 points and the Scotties (5-3) jumped to a 41-13 halftime lead in dispatching the Rams (2-2).
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 74, Soap Lake 62: Derek Isaak totaled 32 points, eight rebounds and five assists to guide the Warriors (3-2) past the visiting Eagles at Coulee City. Chad Carlquist added eight rebounds and seven assists for ACH. Soap Lake’s Kyler Moats scored 15.
Cusick 75, Coeur d’Alene Charter 49: Tyler Edwards scored 31 points and combined with Louie Bluff and Spencer Shanholtzer for 66 points and 35 rebounds as the hosts (4-0) ran away from CdA Charter (5-2) in a matchup of Panthers.
Kellogg 58, Wallace 40: Joe Bren and Cody Lewis led balanced scoring with 10 points apiece as the visiting Wildcats (3-4) defeated the Miners. Zach St. Clair had 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Wallace (2-5). Kellogg’s Ethan Wendt had seven rebounds.
Moscow 58, Pullman 46: The host Bears (7-1) defeated the Greyhounds (0-4). No details were reported.
Pullman 55, Moscow 33: Danielle Hodge and Shelby Cheslek combined for 30 points to guide the visiting Greyhounds (2-2) over the Bears (2-10).
Freeman 55, Riverside 23: MacKenzie Taylor had nine rebounds and teamed with Megan McIntyre for 29 points as the visiting Scotties (8-0) beat the Rams (1-3) with the aid of 26 turnovers.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 38, Mullan 35: Paige Kelly scored 17 points, hitting 3 of 4 from the line in the final minute, as the Panthers (2-3) outlasted the host Tigers (3-5). Morgan Koenig had 12 rebounds for the Tigers, who inbounded the ball under their basket with 3 seconds left but couldn’t get off a shot.
Selkirk 51, Northport 12: Daneen Green and Courtney Holter combined for seven 3-pointers and scored 16 points apiece to lead the host Rangers (3-5, 2-2) past the Mustangs (2-5, 1-3) at Ione. Selkirk’s Annemarie Cain and Kammi Sharp teamed for 22 rebounds. Northport finished with three 3-pointers and three free throws made.

St. John-Endicott 80, Tri-Cities Prep 19: Alli Winters shot 8 of 12 from the field and led five players in double figures with 19 points as the Eagles (8-0, 2-0) defeated the Jaguars (0-1, 0-1) at St. John. TCP shot 8 of 47 from the field and had 28 turnovers.
McKenzie Lancaster won the floor exercise (8.1 points) and vault (8.25) while leading Central Valley to the team title at a five-way Greater Spokane League meet at Ferris. CV scored 142.7 points to outdistance runner-up Lewis and Clark (121.95). Lancaster (30.15) finished second to North Central’s Christy Grorud (32.4) in the all-around. Grorud won the uneven bars (7.3) and balance beam (9.3).
