Lind-Ritzville knocks off Liberty

Behind Cory Whitmore’s 17 points, Lind-Ritzville bounced back from a five-point halftime deficit to knock off visiting Liberty 57-51 as the Bi-County 2B boys basketball tournament opened Tuesday night.

An 18-6 surge in the third quarter powered the Broncos (13-8), who now meet Davenport in Thursday’s semifinals at 5 p.m. in Colfax. Liberty (8-13), which got 18 points from Trever Anderson, slips into a 4:30 p.m. loser-out game Friday against host Colfax.

Reardan 50, Colfax 43: Rodney Abrahamson had eight of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the host Indians (11-10) rallied to beat the Bulldogs (9-11). Reardan plays top seed Northwest Christian at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Colfax.

Selkirk 54, Springdale 40: In a contest at Springdale marred by 46 fouls, the visiting Rangers (14-7) made a big first quarter hold up against the Chargers (13-7) despite Chris Bossio’s 16 points. Selkirk and St. George’s will square off Friday in the championship game, site and time to be determined. Springdale meets Republic in the loser-out affair.

St. George’s 72, Republic 55: Grant Evans’ 16 points helped offset a double-double by Republic’s Jesse Beck in Spokane. Beck had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (5-14), while Connor Deife had 12 points and Jordan Dickson 10 for the Dragons (14-6).

Great Northern League

Medical Lake 47, Deer Park 46: The Cardinals (7-8, 4-5) erased an 11-point deficit in the last 2:26 in Medical Lake and won on Nick Pacheco’s runner in the lane with 16 seconds remaining. Ray Erwin, who led all scorers with 19 points, buried a 3-pointer to pull the Cardinals within a point. Pacheco scored all seven of his points in the fourth quarter and added 11 rebounds. Dan Hutchinson’s 12 points led the Stags (2-14, 1-9).

Pullman 55, Riverside 46: Jaron Hodge and A.J. Therrien split 34 points and the host Greyhounds (11-4, 8-1) overcame the 55 percent shooting of the Rams (4-11, 2-8). Eleven of Hodge’s points came at the foul line, while Dustin Martin led the Rams with 17 points.

West Valley 63, Cheney 49: Jordan Lupfer-Graham poured in 27 points – 22 in the second half – in the Eagles’ (12-4, 8-2) triumph at Cheney (6-10, 4-6). West Valley held the Blackhawks to just two points in the second quarter and held a 36-22 rebounding advantage. Mike Sprenger scored 17 for the hosts.

Intermountain League

Priest River 82, Kellogg 49: The host Spartans (13-0, 7-0) ran away from the Wildcats (8-9, 4-4) in the second half behind the 26 points of Max Salesky, whose 9-of-11 shooting included 5 of 6 from 3-point range. Eric Holbrook (16) and Jake Weimer (14) also had big nights for Priest River.

North Star League

Clark Fork 61, Kootenai 58 (OT): Jared Broggi’s 3-pointer with a minute left sent the game into overtime and the Wampus Cats (5-13, 4-5) hit 7 of 8 free throws in the overtime to beat the host Warriors in Harrison. Jared and Dillion Zarpentine combined for 23 for the Warriors (3-11, 3-3).

Non-league

CDA Charter Academy 61, Mullan 35: A balanced attack – four players in double figures – lifted the host Panthers (11-8) to an easy victory over the Tigers (0-9). Mullan’s Casey McKinnon topped all scorers with 17.

Caribou Trail League

Lake Roosevelt 56, Okanogan 42: Ed Wolfe scored 16 points and Ty Egbert added 10 rebounds as the Raiders (11-6, 10-3) defeated the visiting Bulldogs (9-10, 3-10) at Coulee Dam.
