Colville overpowers Blackhawks

Ashley Knight scored 17 points to lead all scorers and Colville (4-0) upended former Great Northern League foe Cheney (2-1) 56-38 in nonleague action Friday in Cheney.

The Indians took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Blackhawks 21-8 in the final frame. Allie Brown led the Blackhawks with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

East Valley 57, Riverside 37: Erin Wallman led a balanced attack for the Knights (2-1) with nine points and EV held the Rams (1-1) to just one point in the opening quarter, winning in Riverside. Courtney Davis scored a game-high 20 points for the Rams, adding 16 rebounds and six assists.

Newport 56, Deer Park 40: Taylor Lewis scored all 21 of her points in the first half, Miranda Frederick added 16 points and the Grizzlies (5-0) opened up a 26-point halftime lead in their win over the Stags (1-2) in Deer Park. Alison Ruygrok had 12 points and five rebounds for the Stags.

Freeman 50, Colfax 30: Alyssa Maine led all scorers with 19 points and the Scotties (4-0) picked up the pace in the second half against the Bulldogs (0-1), scoring 33 points to win at Freeman.

Chewelah 60, Springdale 36: Samantha Beamer tallied 19 points, Ryann Richmond added 11 and the Cougars (2-3) jumped out to a 28-12 lead at halftime against the Chargers (0-2) in Springdale. Taylor Smith scored 17 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Chargers.

Lakeside 54, St. George’s 15: Taylor Flemming scored a game-high 12 points and the Eagles (3-1) outrebounded the Dragons (0-3) 22-16 at St. George’s.

Selkirk 49, Republic 42: The Rangers (3-1) outscored the Tigers (1-3) 25-19 in the second half to escape with the win in Republic.

Garfield-Palouse 31, Potlatch 11: Kaycie Adair tallied 15 points, seven rebounds and five steals and the Vikings (3-0) held the visiting Loggers (0-3) scoreless in the first quarter en route to the win.

Clarkston 37, Pasco 21: Jamie Weisner led all scorers with 21 points and KC McConnell chipped in seven rebounds as the Bantams (4-0) held the Pirates to no more than seven points in a quarter at the Pendleton (Ore.) tournament.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 71, Pateros 43: Madeline Isaak scored 22 points to lead the visiting Warriors (3-0) to a win over the Billygoats.

Wilbur-Creston 48, Wilson Creek 21: Freshman Kaelee Reed came off the bench to score 16 points with eight rebounds and the Wildcats (2-1) held the Devils to just one point in the fourth quarter in Wilson Creek.


Columbia 72, Inchelium 17: Julie Ann Larrew and Krista Colvin combined for 28 of the Lions’ (3-0, 1-0) 50 first-half points, finishing with 24 and 22 points, respectively, against the Hornets (0-2, 0-1) in Inchelium.

St. John-Endicott 50, Tekoa-Oakesdale 39: Alli Winters shot 7 of 14 from the field for a game-high 23 points and Erin Schuster added 14 boards to go with four points as the host Eagles (2-0, 1-0) opened league play with a win over the Nighthawks (2-2, 0-1).

Colton 68, Pomeroy 28: McKenzie Heaslett and Mollie Kramer combined for 29 points and the Wildcats (1-1, 1-0) outscored the Pirates (1-1, 0-1) 27-6 in the first quarter in Pomeroy.

Karlie Martin scored 14 of the Pirates’ 28 points in the loss.

Rosalia 43, Touchet 14: Briann Maley notched nine points, 12 rebounds and six assists and Tayler Nelson led all scorers with 11 points as the Spartans (3-0, 1-0) opened league play with a win over the visiting Indians (0-2, 0-1).
