Sierra Crook hit two free throws during the final minute of overtime Wednesday as Mead overcame Carli Rosenthal’s 22-point game to edge visiting Coeur d’Alene 52-51 in nonleague girls basketball.
The Panthers (5-3) finished 17 of 21 from the free-throw line to hold off the Vikings (5-3), who shot 6 of 11 from the line.
Jade Redmon had nine rebounds and three assists for Mead.
Ferris 61, Wenatchee 59: Guard Haley Sieverding’s baseline jumper with 10 seconds left gave the visiting Saxons (1-6) a win over the Panthers (5-2). Sieverding scored 16 of her game-high 23 points in the first half, including four 3-pointers. Lexi Hallberg’s putback with 6 minutes left gave Wenatchee its first lead, 52-50. A Panthers turnover set up the winning basket.
East Valley 47, Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 45: Alicia Christensen scored 12 points and the host Knights (3-3) held on when an Eagles shot at the buzzer bounced off the rim. Lexie Zappone had 14 points and 10 assists for the Eagles (4-3).
Lakeland 55, Riverside 46: Jenna Davis finished with 14 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists while guiding the host Hawks (7-5) past the Rams at Rathdrum. Lakeland’s Neena Buchmann scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half. Courtney Davis scored 25 for the Rams (2-5).
Chewelah 52, St. George’s 33: Brittney Wuesthoff scored nine points in the first quarter and Arlee Coleman finished with 10 rebounds as the host Cougars (3-5) beat the Dragons. Alex Wert scored 18 for St. George’s (1-6).
Priest River 59, Clark Fork 22: Morgan Stewart hit three 3-pointers and Melissa Trost added nine rebounds to help the Spartans (2-6) defeat the visiting Wampus Cats (4-3). Priest River shot 23 of 51 from the floor, including 6 of 18 on 3-pointers.
Gonzaga Prep 53, Bellarmine Prep 52: TJ Bracey’s baseline jumper with 2.8 seconds left gave the visiting Bullpups (6-1) a win over the Lions. Parker Kelly led Gonzaga Prep with 18 points.
East Valley 57, Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 47: Joey Strehlou shot 8 for 12 from the floor and had five rebounds as the host Knights (4-1) overcame a 20-4 deficit to beat the Eagles (4-3). EV’s Matt Hoadley shot 5 of 7 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line while dishing off six assists.
Lakeland 58, Riverside 41: Hunter Arno scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half and finished with 10 rebounds as the host Hawks (1-6) defeated the Rams (3-4) at Rathdrum. Lakeland’s Alex Opland shot 3 for 4 on 3-pointers. The Hawks shot 16 of 21 from the line while Riverside was 6 of 17.
Chewelah 54, St. George’s 42: Andrew Pugh scored seven of his 20 points in the third quarter and finished with nine rebounds as the Cougars (4-4) beat the visiting Dragons (4-3).
Lake Roosevelt 54, Cashmere 45: Brandon Kohler and Ty Egbert scored 10 points apiece as the Raiders (5-1) defeated the Bulldogs at Wenatchee.
Cusick 69, Northport 67: Tyler Edwards totaled 26 points and 20 rebounds, and Derrick Bluff hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as the visiting Panthers (2-3, 2-0) edged the Mustangs. David Higgins scored 15 of his 24 points in the second half and added seven rebounds for Northport (4-4, 1-3). The Mustangs’ Michal Marko had 22 points and eight rebounds.
Deer Park defeated defending champion Hermiston (Ore.) 37-36 in Tuesday’s team title match at the Best of the West tournament in Pasco.
DP’s Jake Konzal (112 pounds), Cole Harris (119), Joe Hilpert (140) and Shawn Burton (285) had pins in the championship match.
In Wednesday’s individual portion of the 32-team tourney, DP placed third with 135.5 points. Joe Grable (130), Billy Rhoads (145) and Aaron Frank (171) won weight divisions for the Stags. Rhoads defeated Priest River’s Chris Pooley 6-4 in the final.
PR scored 50 points.
Riverside’s Tanner Johnson (160) and Clarkston’s Jacob Waller (189) placed fourth.
