Abi Quinnett and Chelsea Waters combined for 30 points Thursday as Moscow moved within one win of state with a 48-42 win over visiting Lakeland in the 4A Region I girls tournament.
Emily Stecker scored 12 points for the Hawks (8-14), who will host Sandpoint at 6 p.m. Saturday in a loser-out. The winner will play at Moscow (6-15) at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the lone state berth.
Panorama League 1B tournament
Wellpinit 62, Curlew 52: Dani Flett totaled 19 points, six rebounds and two steals to lead the Redskins (8-11) past the visiting Cougars (9-10). Lauren Flett added 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for Wellpinit, which will play Columbia (18-3) at 5 p.m. Saturday at Kettle Falls High for the top two seeds to district. Larissa Miller scored 20 for Curlew, which will meet Cusick (7-12) at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at KF Middle School for the third and fourth seeds to district.
Columbia 55, Cusick 23: Lindsay Loe had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Krista Colvin added 12 points and five steals as the host Lions defeated the Panthers at Hunters. Cusick had 32 turnovers.
Northeast A League
Freeman 52, Newport 21: Korina Baker, MacKenzie Taylor and Megan McIntyre scored 12 points apiece to lead the host Scotties (19-1, 7-1) past the Grizzlies (10-10, 3-5) at the HUB. Taylor added 13 rebounds and Baker seven assists for Freeman, which clinched at least a tie for the league title.
Inland Empire League
Sandpoint 50, Lakeland 49: Skyler Tucker and Stefan Buratto scored 18 points apiece, and Tucker’s free throw with 4 seconds left proved crucial as the host Bulldogs (6-10, 2-2) defeated the Hawks (11-8, 1-2) to seal the second seed to district. Lakeland’s Kyle English swished a half-court shot as time expired.
Kellogg 45, Wallace 35: Blake Jerome scored 13 points and the host Wildcats (11-6) broke away from a 33-all third-quarter tie to defeat the Miners (7-8).
Kootenai 53, Coeur d’Alene Charter 51: Hayden Kraack’s jumper with 12 seconds left lifted the host Warriors (9-9) past the Panthers (11-8). Bob Schrack scored 21 points for CdA Charter, which led 30-25 at halftime. Jacob Zarpentine had 14 points, 12 rebounds and three steals for the Warriors, and Taylor Dodson added 14 points and four assists.
