Dusti Huddleston made a free throw late in the fourth quarter to give St. Maries the lead for good as the Lumberjacks overcame a slow start to beat West Valley 45-42 at the Freeman tournament on Tuesday at Freeman.
Kaytrin Thaut scored 20 points and Huddleston added 15 for the Lumberjacks (2-4), who erased a six-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Eagles 14-6 in the third quarter.
Jenae Martin had 18 points and Aaliyah Ashley-Meek chipped in 12 for West Valley (2-4).
Freeman 48, Lakeland 28: In the other game at the tournament, Molly McIntyre scored 16 points and the Scotties (7-0) locked down defensively in a 48-28 win over the Hawks (7-5).
The Scotties held the Hawks to 12 points through the first three quarters.
Freeman will play St. Maries today at 3:30 p.m. for the title. Lakeland will play West Valley at noon.
Coeur d’Alene 50, Skyline 38: Erin Legel had 14 points, eight rebounds, six steals and four assists to lead the Vikings past Skyline 50-38 at the Coeur d’Alene Inn-vitational at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene.
Kendalyn Brainard scored 12 points and Kyeli Parker chipped in 11 points for the Vikings (9-2), who outscored Skyline 31-18 in the second half to put the game away.
Lake City 55, Redmond 26: Jasmyn Smith scored 20 points and Jansen Butler added 11 as the Timberwolves (7-4) routed Redmond 55-26.
The Timberwolves will play Coeur d’Alene tonight at 6 in the semifinals.
Federal Way 49, Post Falls 38: Whitney Gonzales and Brooke Litalien scored 11 points apiece to lead the Trojans in a loss to Federal Way.
Post Falls (6-4) plays today at 9 a.m. against Lapwai, which lost to Davis in the opening round.
