Roundup: Deer Park tops Medical Lake for final district berth

Alison Ruygrok scored nine of her 13 points in the opening half and Deer Park (6-15) earned the sixth and final spot to the District 7 2A tournament with a 53-37 victory over Medical Lake (5-16) Saturday in Cheney.

Playing a one-game playoff for the final ticket to the district tournament, the Stags opened up an 11-point halftime lead, shooting 42.8 percent from the floor in the first half. Tessa Heinis added 12 points for the Stags. Amelia Cook scored 14 to lead the Cardinals.

DP will play at Pullman at 6 p.m. Monday.

Idaho 4A Region I

Moscow 41, Sandpoint 24: Taylor Anderson scored 12 points and Kylie Gorton added eight rebounds as the host Bears (6-15) went on a 27-10 run in the second half to eliminate the Bulldogs (8-15). After scoring just 14 points in the first half, the Bears opened the second with a 9-2 run in the third quarter. Moscow hosts Lakeland at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Intermountain

Priest River 44, Timberlake 41: Liz Halcro notched 18 points and 18 rebounds and the host Spartans (11-9, 6-2) snapped a 14-game winning streak by the Tigers (16-4, 7-1) in the season finale, securing the Spartans sole possession of second place in the league.

Kellogg 48, St. Maries 33: Marah Ashcraft finished with 16 points and the host Wildcats (7-11, 2-6) upended the Lumberjacks (6-13, 2-6), winning the Brawl for the Ball game in the season finale. Taylor Sheppard added 12 points for the Wildcats, who outscored the Lumberjacks 17-7 in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Bi-County 2B

Reardan 57, St. George’s 21: Tori Wynecoop tallied 15 points and four steals, Katy Burge added 11 points and seven rebounds and the host Indians (17-2, 15-0) outscored the Dragons (2-17, 2-13) 29-9 in the second half to pull away for good. In her first game back after illness, sophomore Kelsey Moos scored seven points for the Indians.

Davenport 66, Springdale 31: Miranda Mielke’s 25 points and five assists paced the Gorillas (8-11, 7-8), helping them build a 19-point halftime lead, holding the visiting Chargers (0-19, 0-15) to just 11 points in the opening half. Taylor Smith led the Chargers with 10 points in the loss.

Kettle Falls 44, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 28: Samantha Charlton scored 13 points to go with eight steals and the host Bulldogs (13-6, 11-4) recorded 25 team steals against the Broncos (8-11, 6-9), building a 28-13 lead at halftime. Nikka Yankus added nine points, seven steals and four rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Colfax 64, Liberty 22: Nicole Sheer led all scorers with 16 points, adding four rebounds and three steals off the bench as the host Bulldogs (13-7, 13-3) held the Lancers (6-13, 5-10) to two points on 1-of-18 shooting in the second half. Misty Skelton added eight points and five assists for the Bulldogs.

Southeast 1B

Rosalia 57, LaCrosse-Washtucna 33: Briann Maley tallied 24 points to lead the visiting Spartans (13-7, 8-6) to a win over the Tigercats (1-18, 0-14) pushing them into fourth place in the Southeast 1B standings. Logan Harder tallied 12 points to lead the Tigercats.

Colton 70, Garfield-Palouse 33: Haley Moser led all scorers with 16 points and McKenzie Heaslet tallied 15 points as the visiting Wildcats (19-1, 14-0) cruised to the win over the Vikings (7-12, 4-10).

Pomeroy 48, St. John-Endicott 37: The Pirates (15-3, 11-3) upended the host Eagles (16-3, 11-3) on the final day of the regular season to force a tie for second place in the league standings.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 42, Touchet 38: The host Nighthawks (9-11, 5-9) knocked off the Indians (4-15, 3-11) to earn fifth place in the Southeast 1B.
