Preps roundup: Bantams rough up Stags

The Clarkston Bantams got off the bus and had no problems remaining unbeaten in the Great Northern League.

Behind 17 points from Mitch Carey and 13 from Trey Sobotta, the Bantams (11-1, 5-0) ran over the Deer Park Stags 57-29 Saturday.

Zach Mohr led the Stags (4-9, 0-5) with 11 points.

West Valley 44, Medical Lake 31: The Eagles (10-2, 4-1) started quickly against the visiting Cardinals (7-7, 1-5). West Valley opened a 27-14 lead by halftime. Kyle Wagner led WV with 10 points.

Cheney 59, East Valley 50: Shakur Smith had 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Blackhawks (8-5, 2-3) pulled even with the Knights (9-4, 2-3) in league. Diondre Moore-Young had eight rebounds. Joey Strehlou led EV with 17 points.

4A Inland Empire League

Moscow 38, Lakeland 36: The visiting Bears (4-8, 2-1) rallied in the fourth quarter as both teams played strong defense at Rathdrum. A 3-pointer late by Lane Brooks gave Moscow the lead for good. Aaron Spencer led Lakeland (2-11, 0-2) with 10 points.

Intermountain League

Priest River 81, Timberlake 65: Max Salesky scored 16 of his team-high 28 points in the first quarter as the visiting Spartans (9-3, 1-0) cruised past the Tigers (2-11, 0-3). Brian Cronnelly led the Tigers with 31 points. Salesky finished with six 3-pointers.

Bi-County 2B

Northwest Christian 68, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 35: Kwinn Hanson had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Crusaders (11-1, 8-0) past the visiting Broncos (7-6, 4-5). Bryce Hilzer led the Broncos with 11 points.

Reardan 86, Davenport 80 (OT): The Indians (8-5, 7-2) used three 3-pointers in overtme to hold off the host Gorillas (6-6, 3-5). Trevor Peone led Reardan with 23 points. Joey Gunning scored 37 for the Gorillas.

Colfax 65, St. George’s 39: JJ Robinson scored 17 of his 24 points in the second quarter to power the Bulldogs (10-1, 7-0) past the visiting Dragons (6-6, 5-3). Dexter Sienko added 10 rebounds and 10 points for Colfax.

Springdale 68, Liberty 26: Connor Parker and Uconn Peone combined for 32 points as the visiting Chargers (4-8, 2-7) defeated the Lancers (3-10, 2-7).

Bi-County 1B

Valley Christian 45, Wilbur-Creston 39: Craver Small had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the visiting Panthers (11-2, 3-0) past the Wildcats (9-3, 1-2). Damon Abel led W-C with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Odessa-Harrington 63, St. Michael’s 62: The Warriors (1-8, 0-2) trailed by 19 points early in the fourth quarter, but their rally fell short at home. Stetson Sanford led the Titans (4-11, 1-3) with 14 points. Gabe Durazo led St. Michael’s with 23.

Panorama League

Wellpinit 89, Selkirk 48: The Redskins (12-4, 8-1) used 20 steals to pull away from the visiting Rangers (4-10, 3-6). Drake Wynne led Wellpinit with 23 points and seven assists and Greg Wynecoop had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Trevor Grant led the Rangers with 13 points.

Cusick 70, Northport 61: The Panthers (9-4, 8-0) opened a 48-20 lead by halftime over the visiting Mustangs (7-7, 5-5). Louie Bluff led Cusick with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Michal Marko had 29 points and five rebounds for Northport.

Inchelium 60, Curlew 55: Sam LeaderCharge came off the bench to score 20 points to go with six steals as the Hornets (3-8, 2-6) topped the visiting Cougars (6-7, 3-5). Tanner Somday led Curlew with 20 points.

Southeast 1B

Rosalia 52, Touchet 27: The Spartans (13-1, 8-0) used a 34-26 rebounding margin to knock off the Indians (3-8, 1-7) at Touchet. Nathan Richards led Rosalia with 11 points. Eric Hines led Touchet with 10.

Garfield-Palouse 54, LaCrosse-Washtucna 37: Solid defense propelled the Vikings (6-6, 4-4) at home. Blake Slocum led Gar-Pal with 14 points. Jeff Zimmer led L-W (6-7, 3-5) with 15.

Colton 48, Pomeroy 36: The Wildcats (9-5, 7-1) won this at the foul line, shooting 27 to the Pirates’ three. Dustin Patchen had 22 points to lead Colton while Justin Ruark led the Pirates (2-9, 2-6) with 12.

St. John-Endicott 55, Tekoa-Oakesdale 38: The Nighthawks (4-9, 3-5) couldn’t overcome the Eagles’ fast start. Cole McCanna led the Eagles (6-7, 4-4) with 13 points and Earl Gaines led the Nighthawks with 10. SJE’s Mason Van Lith had seven rebounds.

Nonleague

Republic 53, Columbia 49 (OT): The Tigers (5-10) used a couple of quick steals to take control in overtime at Republic. Clay Anderson led the Tigers with 20 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots. Dominick Marquez led Columbia (2-13) with 22 points.

Sandpoint 64, Bonners Ferry 62: The Badgers (1-8) outscored the visiting Bulldogs (6-6) 23-9 in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough. Blaine Shultz had 14 points for Sandpoint and Mat Evans led BF with 22.
