Adam Talley scored on a header in the 65th minute to knot the score and freshman goalkeeper Adam Bronley made a crucial save in the fourth round of a shootout as the East Valley Knights (13-2) escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Medical Lake Cardinals (11-7) in a District 7 2A boys soccer loser-out match on Saturday.
Medical Lake grabbed a 1-0 lead at the 15-minute mark of the first half when Taylor Satcher took a pass from Devon Prince and scored.
East Valley’s goal came when Miles Rinney headed the ball to Tyler Tran, who headed it to Talley.
Also in District 7 2A play, Kevin Spangenberg finished with a hat trick – scoring first-half goals at the 14- and 29-minute marks and capping it with a second-half goal at 44 minutes – and the Pullman Greyhounds (11-5) rolled to a 3-0 victory over the Cheney Blackhawks (12-5).
Pullman and East Valley will square off for the District 7 championship at 6 p.m. Tuesday at G-Prep.
3A Regional: Mauricio Perez scored a pair of goals and picked up an assist on the winning score late in the second half and the Eastmont Wildcats defeated the Mt. Spokane Wildcats 3-2 in a CBBN/Greater Spokane League 3A loser-out regional match in East Wenatchee.
Perez staked Eastmont to a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals at the 14- and 36-minute marks.
Mt. Spokane (7-8) battled back to tie the score at 2-2 on goals by Jack Gularte (47th minute) and Alex Drinkard (67th minute). But Perez passed to Josh Vanassche who found the net with 8 minutes remaining to play to lift Eastmont to the victory.
District 7 1A: Bernardo Camerena netted three goals and the Cascade Kodiaks (10-6) eliminated the host Lakeside Eagles 4-1 in a Tri-District 1A match at Nine Mile Falls.
All-league defender Cody Constant scored the lone goal for Lakeside (7-11-1).
It was his first score of the season.
Also in Tri-District loser-out action, Roberto Velsco and Edwin Tinoco scored three goals apiece and the Brewster Bears romped to an 8-0 victory over the host Colville Indians (8-5-1).
District 7 1A: Mitch Vander Linden went 3 for 4 with two runs batted in and the Freeman Scotties scored a run in the top of the eighth inning to slip past the Chewelah Cougars in the District 7 1A championship game at Nine Mile Falls.
Freeman outhit Chewelah 9-3, including two hits by Ben Zakheim.
Also in District 7 1A loser-out play at Nine Mile Falls, Cody Thew (7-2) fired a complete-game shutout and the Colville Indians breezed to a 4-0 victory over the Lakeside Eagles.
Colville will play Caribou Trail League No. 2 seed Cascade in a 1A Bi-District loser-out game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Moses Lake.
• The Great Northern League District 7 2A tournament games slated for Avista Stadium were postponed due to weather conditions.
The games have been moved to Washington State University in Pullman and rescheduled for Monday.
Clarkston will play Pullman at 1 p.m. for the district title. West Valley and East Valley square off at 4 p.m.
The loser of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 at 7 p.m. for the No. 2 seed to state.
