Rafa Hewett-Steiger of Lewiston defeated Lake City’s Luke Ness 6-4, 6-2 to win the Idaho State 5A boys singles championship on Saturday in Boise.
Hewett-Steiger’s victory helped the Bengals place third as a team. Boise breezed to the team title, easily outdistancing runner-up Eagle 56-23. Lake City tied for fifth place with Idaho Falls.
Idaho Falls won a tiebreaker to edge Boise for the girls team title. Both teams finished with 29 points. Timberline was third. Lake City was ninth and Lewiston finished 10th.
