G-Prep edges LC in girls soccer

Gonzaga Prep’s Madi Payne, Annie Tombari and Gulia Oliva scored in a shootout to give the Bullpups a 3-2 win over Lewis and Clark in a battle of unbeaten Greater Spokane League soccer teams Friday at Hart Field.

The Tigers’ Sarah Nanny scored her second goal in the 62nd minute to knot the game at 2 and send it into a scoreless overtime and an eventual shootout.

Jessica Bennett scored for G-Prep, which also benefited from an own goal.

The Bullpups improved to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the GSL. Lewis and Clark lost for the first time and is 10-1 and 3-1 GSL.

Mead 2, North Central 0: Kara Marbury had a goal and an assist to lead the Panthers to a win over the visiting Indians. Marbury’s goal came in the 38th minute and she assisted on Kylie Drynan’s goal in the 43rd minute. The Panthers (7-2, 2-2) outshot North Central (2-5, 1-3) 23-3.

Central Valley 3, University 0: The Bears kept their perfect league record intact with a win over the host Titans. Savannah Hoekstra opened the scoring with a goal in the 36th minute. Holly Miller and Kasey Ames added second-half goals to put CV (8-1, 4-0) ahead for good.

Mt. Spokane 4, Ferris 1: The Wildcats (4-4, 1-3) scored three second-half goals and upset the visiting Saxons (5-2, 3-1). Lexi Pruneau scored in the 10th minute to open the scoring for Mt. Spokane and Sierra Bezdicek, Rachel Jones and Mikayla Wolff added second-half goals. Caitlin Prothe scored for Ferris.

Shadle Park 5, Rogers 0: Hannah Bokma scored two goals to guide the Highlanders (4-5, 1-3) to the win over the host Pirates (0-5, 0-4).


Greater Spokane League: Annie Arnzen had 11 aces and Marissa Verduci and Ixchelle Olsen had 12 kills apiece as Mt. Spokane (4-1) defeated host University (2-3) 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-15.

• Christina Santorsola had 10 kills and seven digs to guide Gonzaga Prep (4-1) to a 25-18, 25-13, 25-12 win at Rogers. Samantha Roberts dished out 15 assists to lead the Pirates (1-4).
