Beau Lockmer hit two free throws late to lift the Ferris Saxons past the visiting Mead Panthers 59-56 in Greater Spokane League boys basketball action Thursday.
Mead (6-2 overall, 4-2 league) committed a turnover with 5 seconds left.
Cody Benzel led Ferris (5-2, 4-2) with 17 points including making 6 of 6 foul shots in the fourth quarter. Jensen Rye added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Lockmer chipped in 12.
Brandon Pettersen led Mead with 16 points and Thomas Kautzman had 13.
Ferris won the game at the foul line where it made 19 of 24 shots to Mead’s 8 of 17.
Shadle Park 49, Lewis and Clark 47: Skyler Kelley’s driving layup with 12 seconds left lifted the visiting Highlanders (4-4, 3-3) over the Tigers (4-4, 2-4).
Kelley finished with a team-high 17 points and Matt Niemeier had 12. Connor Hojnacki and Dean Richey had 14 and 11, respectively, for LC.
LC struggled at the free-throw line, making just 10 of 20 attempts including misses on the front end of four one-and-one opportunities.
University 84, Rogers 58: The Titans (5-3, 3-3) shared the ball and it showed.
Seven Titans finished with two or more assists as U-Hi ran the visiting Pirates (1-6, 0-6) off the floor.
U-Hi’s Brett Bailey scored a season-high 31 points, Michael Isotalo had a career-high 18 and Caleb Gilbert chipped in 11. DeShawn Boswell had a team-high six assists.
Carson Murray led Rogers with 19 points, making 7 of 11 shots, which included 3 of 4 3-pointers, while Amaujae Daniels had 15 to go with five rebounds and four assists.
Gonzaga Prep 58, Mt. Spokane 32: The visiting Bullpups (5-2, 5-1) clamped down defensively.
The Bullpups forced 17 turnovers and grabbed 10 offensive rebounds. Jake Groh led G-Prep with 14 points and Sawyer Kuykendall had 13.
Central Valley 66, North Central 37: The league-leading Bears (7-0, 6-0) outrebounded the Indians (0-8, 0-6) 26-16 at NC.
Beau Byus led the Bears with 18 points and Austin Rehkow and Justin Fayant had 12 and 11, respectively. Jamil Foster led NC with 16.
