Pratt, Moyer lead way for Mead gymnastics victory

Cadie Pratt and Victoria Moyer won two events each and went 1-2 in the all-around to lead Mead to a solid 180.9 points and a victory in a five-way Greater Spokane League gymnastics meet Thursday night at the Mead Gymnastics Center.

Pratt won the balance beam and floor exercise, finished second to Moyer on uneven bars and third in vault in compiling an all-around winning score of 37.35. Moyer, scant points behind at 37.275, also won the vault.

Lily Hoch of Lewis and Clark was third in the all-around with 36.35 points.

Ferris, with Shelby Kantner and Alexandra Dinwoodie going 2-3 behind Pratt on the beam, was second with 161.825 points.

Girls basketball

Wellpinit 59 Inchelium 53: Led by Dani Flett, who scored half of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, the Redskins (6-11, 5-6) capped a second-half comeback with a 20-11 margin in the final quarter for a Panorama League win at home. Sami Jo Parr scored all of her team-leading 15 points in the second half. Inchelium (7-9, 3-8) had three double-figure scorers.

Timberlake 53, St. Maries 39: The Tigers (9-8, 4-2) used a balanced attack to overcome Dusti Huddleston’s 19 points, seven rebounds and two steals for the visiting Lumberjacks (4-10, 0-4) in an Intermountain League game at Spirit Lake. Kelly Madsen had 13 points and Kara Wenstrom 12 for Timberlake.

Clark Fork 45, Kootenai 24: The Wampus Cats’ (8-2, 2-0) pressure defense turned around a tight game in the second quarter and the host Warriors (3-8, 1-2) had no answer in the North Star League game at Harrison.

Lake Roosevelt 73, Liberty Bell 14: Eleven of the 12 host Raiders who played scored – three in double figures – in the one-sided Central Washington 2B League win at Coulee Dam.

Boys basketball

Lake Roosevelt 70, Liberty Bell 31: Ty Egbert had 29 points, 16 rebounds and 10 blocked shots to lead the host Raiders (11-4, 8-0) to a Central Washington 2B win at Coulee Dam.

Priest River 51, Coeur d’Alene Charter 47: The Spartans (5-8) opened an 11-point lead after three quarters then weathered a rally by the visitors for a nonleague win. Dalton Sommer led PR with 13 points. Bryan Smith of CdA Charter scored 16.


Uriah Machuga and Gil Givens scored two goals each to lead the visiting Spokane Braves (17-20-1-2) to a 6-2 win over Grand Forks (1-42-0-0).
