After a scoreless first half, the fourth-seeded West Valley boys soccer team came alive and beat fifth-seeded Deer Park 4-1 in a District 7 2A match Thursday at West Valley.
Brandon Babinski opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 55th minute. Deer Park’s Daniel Winther knotted the match at 1 with a goal 3 minutes later.
It was all West Valley the rest of the way.
Brandon Borg scored in the 63rd minute, Ryan Fay scored off a Babinski assist in the 69th minute and Brandon Newsome capped the scoring 4 minutes later.
The Eagles will play at top-seeded Cheney at noon Saturday. The Stags were eliminated.
Pullman 3, Clarkston 0: Mike Kelly had a goal and an assist to lead the third-seeded Greyhounds to a shutout of the sixth-seeded Bantams in Pullman.
Alexi Barnstone put Pullman ahead early with an unassisted goal in the sixth minute. Kelly scored in the 53rd minute and then assisted on Matt Konkel’s 74th-minute goal.
The Greyhounds had a 22-3 advantage in shots. Pullman will play at No. 2 East Valley at noon Saturday. The loss ends Clarkston’s season.
University’s scheduled District 8 3A doubleheader at Mt. Spokane was postponed because of rain. The games were rescheduled for this afternoon.
• Newport’s District 7 1A game against Freeman at Nine Mile Falls was also postponed because of rain.
