Meaghan Bare completed her hat trick in the 98th minute to lift the Lake City girls soccer team to a 3-2 double-overtime win over Centennial in an Idaho 5A state play-in match Saturday at Middleton High School.
Bare opened the scoring for the Timberwolves with an unassisted goal in the 15th minute. She scored her second goal in the 55th minute to put Lake City ahead 2-0.
Centennial responded to tie the match before Bare’s winner.
Lake City held a 10-7 advantage in shots. Tiegan Horton made five saves for the Timberwolves.
Lake City will play Highland in the first round of the state tournament on Thursday. The tournament will be played at Coeur d’Alene and Lake City high schools.
Mountain View scored two first-half goals and held on to eliminate Coeur d’Alene 2-1 in an Idaho 5A state play-in match at Middleton High.
Graison Le scored the Vikings’ lone goal in the 61st minute.
Coeur d’Alene held a 6-5 advantage in shots, but couldn’t capitalize on its opportunities.
Kayla McGlathery had 17 kills and a couple of aces as Coeur d’Alene beat Lake City in a 5A Region I match in Lewiston. Scores were 14-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 25-23.
Ashley Hammons dished out 19 assists and Megan Ramseyer added eight digs for the Vikings (10-5).
Kylie Curtis had a match-high 19 kills and Kaity Widmyer dished out 24 assists to lead the Timberwolves (11-5).
In another regional match in Lewiston, Emilee Schlader had 11 kills and 16 digs and Makayla Wilson added 19 assists and six aces as Lewiston (12-1) swept Post Falls (3-12).
Scores were 25-8, 25-14 and 25-18.
Brett Hastings added nine blocks for the Bengals.
The Bengals will take on Coeur d’Alene in the regional title match on Tuesday for a berth to the state tournament. Post Falls and Lake City will play in a loser-out match on Tuesday.
