West Valley, Pullman remain tied atop GNL

Natalie Noble scored 11 points and Aaliyah Ashley-Meek and Erin Higbie added 10 as West Valley (13-5, 9-1) remained tied atop the Great Northern League with a 51-49 basketball victory over visiting East Valley (13-6, 7-4) on Thursday.

After EV took the lead late in the fourth quarter, Higbie went 3 for 4 at the free-throw line to put the Eagles ahead by the final margin.

Hannah Burland missed a potential winning 3-pointer at the buzzer for the Knights.

Pullman 74, Clarkston 55: Anna Guo and Emily Drake each scored 18 and Dakota Wickard contributed 16 points as the Greyhounds (13-5, 9-1) raced past the visiting Bantams (4-14, 2-8).

Pullman used a 52-33 edge in the middle quarters to secure the win and stay tied for first.

Cheney 50, Colville 45: Chae Brown scored 19 points and made nine steals to lead the host Blackhawks (7-11, 4-7) back from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat the Indians (9-9, 5-5). Coreen Labish chipped in 13 points and eight blocks for Cheney.

Taryn Main led Colville with 11 points and Sadie Learn and Megan Lee each scored 10.

Idaho 4A Region I

Moscow 41, Sandpoint 38: Chloe Quinnett dropped in 13 points as the Bears (7-11) overcame a two-point second quarter to get past the Bulldogs at Moscow, Idaho. Madison Schoening led Sandpoint (13-9) in scoring with 15.


Priest River 34, Kellogg 28: Jill Weimer and Kelsey Bradbury combined to score 19 points and the host Spartans (12-6, 5-0) crept past the Wildcats (8-6, 2-2) to clinch the No. 1 seed in the district tournament with a victory. Weimer scored eight of her 10 points in the second half and added seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. Kenadie Arthur scored eight points for Kellogg.

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 62, St. Michael’s 30: Karlee Martin scored 21 through three quarters and ACH’s Warriors (15-5, 10-0) raced to a victory over the host Warriors (4-16, 2-8). Macaela Shelley’s 10 points were tops for St. Michael’s.


Coeur d’Alene Charter 56, Clark Fork 25: Lexi Turkenburg scored a game-high 42 points and the Panthers (16-3) put a close game out of reach with a 38-8 spurt in the second half at Clark Fork. Turkenburg made 19 of 32 field-goal attempts, grabbed 11 rebounds and added six steals and seven assists.

Boys Great Northern

Pullman 62, Clarkston 55: AJ Miles scored a team-high 17 points and Corey Langerveld added 15 as the visiting Greyhounds (17-1, 9-0) overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to get past the second-place Bantams (12-5, 6-3). Kage Sobotta made five 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 19 points for Clarkston.

West Valley 63, East Valley 44: Jake Love scored 21 points to go along with 17 rebounds and Tyler Stavnes added 12 points as the Eagles (12-5, 5-4) routed the Knights (8-10, 4-6) in the second half at WV. James Brown scored 16 to top EV’s scoring and JT Phelan chipped in 13.

Cheney 78, Colville 56: Eric Igbinoba and Alex Berman scored 15 points apiece to pace the Blackhawks past the visiting Indians. Igbinoba added seven rebounds and six assists for Cheney (9-9, 5-5), which swept the season series with Colville (8-9, 4-5). Zach Shoemaker scored 14 to lead the Indians and Lukyn Holling added 13.

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 48, St. Michael’s 41: Thunder Wellhausen dropped a game-high 20 points and ACH (10-8, 6-4) put away the host Warriors (1-19, 0-10). Mitch Hunt scored 10 for ACH and Michael Cyr led St. Michael’s with 15 points.

North Star

Lakeside (ID) 69, Mullan 31: The Knights rushed to a 19-point halftime lead and never looked back in beating the Tigers in Plummer. Brandon Gauthier scored 15 to pace Lakeside (7-9, 3-1), and Doug Schatz added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Knights. Tyler Henderson led Mullan (1-12, 0-5) with 12 points.


Post Falls 54, Sandpoint 46: The Trojans (8-10, 1-3) battled for a win over the host Bulldogs (2-14, 0-2). No other details were reported.
