Viks start fast, topple Tigers

Coeur d’Alene opened the game on a 14-3 run and held on for a 47-34 nonleague girls basketball win over Lewis and Clark Saturday night at Coeur d’Alene.

Sydney Williams scored 10 points and Kendalyn Brainard added five points, eight rebounds, three steals and three assists for the Vikings (12-3).

Michaela Kay tallied a team-high six points for the Tigers (4-5).

Inland Empire 4A

Sandpoint 43, Lakeland 31: The Bulldogs (7-6, 1-0) took control in the second half after a back-and-forth start and beat the visiting Hawks (1-12, 0-1). Madison Schoening scored 11 points and Hailey Olin added 10 for Sandpoint, which outscored Lakeland 27-14 in the second half.

Great Northern

Pullman 49, Cheney 39: Dakota Wickard led four players in double figures with 18 points and the Greyhounds (5-5, 1-1) pulled away in the third quarter and beat the visiting Blackhawks (3-5, 1-1). Emily Drake scored 15 points, Cierra Paul had 11 and Anna Guo added 10 for Pullman, which outscored Cheney 16-6 in the third. Samantha Sheffles paced the Blackhawks with 10 points.

East Valley 63, Deer Park 24: Erin Wallman and Kendra Morscheck scored 16 points apiece and Jordan Phelan added 10 as the Knights (8-2, 2-0) beat the host Stags (0-10, 0-2). Karlee Barcellos led Deer Park with 13 points.

Northeast A

Freeman 70, Chewelah 19: Alisha Sorensen connected on all four of her 3-point attempts and scored 25 points to guide the Scotties (11-0, 4-0) to a rout of the host Cougars (4-7, 2-4). Molly McIntyre added 11 points for Freeman. Chewelah made two of its 20 field-goal attempts in the first quarter and fell behind 24-4.

Lakeside 51, Medical Lake 24: A 13-1 third-quarter run gave the Eagles (9-3, 3-1) complete control and Lakeside went on to beat the host Cardinals (5-7, 1-4). Ashley Cook-Cox scored nine points and Kelsey Jones and Jocelyn Cook-Cox each added eight points for the Eagles.

Newport 53, Riverside 28: Courtney Wiese had 23 points, 12 rebounds and five steals as the Grizzlies (8-4, 4-1) routed the visiting Rams (6-5, 2-2).

Northeast 1B North

Columbia 60, Inchelium 37: Elizabeth Larrew scored 28 points and Kaitlin Jones added 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Lions (7-5, 4-1) dumped the host Hornets (3-5, 2-4). Columbia outscored Inchelium 24-5 in the third quarter to seal the deal. Javahni Andrews had 10 points for Inchelium.

Cusick 61, Curlew 31: Nalene Andrews had 17 points and eight rebounds and Caytlin Nenema pulled down 10 rebounds as the Panthers (13-0, 6-0) overwhelmed the visiting Cougars (4-7, 2-4). Cusick outscored Curlew 19-9 in the third quarter to take a 51-22 lead into the fourth. Haleigh Gibson paced the Cougars with 12 points.

Republic 59, Selkirk 26: Brianna Brown had 13 points, nine rebounds and eight steals to guide the Tigers (8-3, 4-2) past the visiting Rangers (4-5, 2-3). Demi Jo Vaughan had 14 points and seven rebounds and Sierra McQuay added 12 points and 16 boards for Republic. Selkirk was led by Katie Couch, who had 16 points, 14 rebounds and two steals.

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 51, Wellpinit 47: Karlee Martin made all four of her free-throw attempts in the final minute to help the Warriors (7-5, 2-0) get past the host Redskins (5-7, 1-1). Martin finished with a game-high 17 points and Allison Fox added 14 for Almira/Coulee-Hartline. Dani Flett scored 14 points, Kyra Antone had 12 and Mariah Stearns chipped in 10 for Wellpinit.

Wilbur-Creston 64, St. Michael’s 27: The Wildcats (7-4, 2-0) outscored the Warriors (1-9, 0-2) 31-6 after halftime and cruised to the easy win. Brianne Goodlake scored 14 points, Alex Potts had 12 and Kaelee Reed 11 for Wilbur-Creston.

Odessa-Harrington 41, Valley Christian 20: Chelsea Fisher scored 16 points and the Titans (4-8, 2-0) erupted in the fourth quarter to beat the host Panthers (0-9, 0-2). After being held scoreless in the third quarter, Odessa-Harrington outscored Valley Christian 25-3 in the fourth.

Lindy Riggan had 17 points and six rebounds for the Panthers.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 51, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 19: Chandler Pfaff had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Taylor Redman added 17 points, 10 rebounds and six steals as the Vikings (2-9, 2-5) routed the host Tigercats (0-10, 0-7).

Garfield-Palouse outscored the Tigercats 17-2 in the second quarter and led by 23 points at halftime.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 56, Touchet 48: Alexandria Overton scored 16 points and Alexa Lindgren added 12 as the Nighthawks (8-2, 5-2) beat the visiting Indians. Mattie Jo Johnson added 10 points for Tekoa-Oakesdale.

Colton 51, St. John-Endicott 14: Jenna Moser made of pair of 3-pointers and finished with 17 points as the Wildcats (9-1, 7-0) dumped the visiting Eagles (9-2, 6-1). Colton outscored St. John-Endicott 23-2 in the second quarter and led 30-6 at halftime.

Nonleague

Bonners Ferry 40, Lake City JV 39: Jasmine Hill’s 12-foot jumper with 19 seconds left proved to be the difference as the Badgers (9-1) held on to beat visiting Lake City junior varsity.

Savannah Woods tallied a team-high 12 points for Bonners Ferry.
