Gorillas rally late, knock off Broncos

Davenport ended the game on a 12-1 run and stunned Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 49-45 in a Northeast 2B League boys basketball game Tuesday night in Ritzville.

The Gorillas’ Josh Likkel scored seven of his team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter. Connor Van Pevenage added 11 and Travis Steadman chipped in 10 for Davenport (8-10, 3-9).

Connor O’Neill tossed in a game-high 15 points for the Broncos (14-4, 8-4).

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague erased Davenport’s halftime lead with a 14-8 third-quarter run, but couldn’t stop the Gorillas fourth-quarter rally.

The loss was the second in the past three games for the Broncos after opening the season with an 11-2 record.

Reardan 53, Liberty 49: Nick Brockman led three players in double figures with 16 points and the Indians (6-13, 4-9) edged the visiting Lancers (9-10, 5-8).

Skyler Peone had 12 points and Daniel Peone chipped in 11. Liberty fell behind 14-8 in the first quarter but responded with a 17-11 second-quarter run.

Match Burnham scored 18 points, Zack Kunkel added 11 and Ryan Thayer chipped in 10 for Liberty, which made 17 of 25 free throws.

Great Northern

East Valley 69, Deer Park 46: Led by big nights from James Brown and J.T. Phelan, the Knights topped the visiting Stags.

Brown scored 22 of his game-high 28 points in the first half and Phelan added a triple-double – 15 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

East Valley (8-8, 4-4) outscored Deer Park 24-5 in the third quarter to put the game away.

Nathanel Guske tallied a team-high 12 points for the Stags (4-12, 0-8).

Pullman 66, Cheney 49: Corey Langerveld scored 20 points and A.J. Miles added 15 as the Greyhounds (16-1, 8-0) built a comfortable first-half lead and beat the host Blackhawks (8-7, 4-4).

Tanner Therrien added nine points for Pullman, which led 31-14 at halftime.

Cheney was led by H.D. Wyborney’s 19 points.

Northeast A

Freeman 53, Kettle Falls 46: Jacob Phipps made seven first-half 3-pointers, including five in the first quarter, and the Scotties (3-14, 3-6) beat the host Bulldogs (6-11, 1-9).

Phipps finished with a game-high 29 points and helped Freeman build a 23-10 first-quarter lead.

Conner McKern tallied a team-high 11 points for Kettle Falls.

Lakeside 52, Riverside 44: The Eagles (7-10, 6-3) hit all eight of their free-throw attempts in the final 1:10 and beat the host Rams (4-12, 2-7).

Conner Moffatt scored 14 points and Coleton Collins added 12 for Lakeside.

Tyler Axtell and Andrew Kramer combined for 31 points for Riverside.

Medical Lake 62, Newport 40: Austin Garza scored 17 points and dished out 10 assists to guide the Cardinals (12-5, 9-1) past the visiting Grizzlies (6-12, 3-7).

Dominick Harvey-Mitchell added nine points and nine rebounds for Medical Lake, which put the game away in the fourth quarter by outscoring Newport 22-10.

Jeron Konkright tallied a game-high 26 points for the Grizzlies.


St. Maries 46, Bonners Ferry 23: Luke Feasline and Austin Linnemeyer scored 12 points apiece and the Lumberjacks (9-4) beat the host Badgers (5-8).

St. Maries outscored Bonners Ferry 14-5 in the second quarter and led 26-8 at the half.

Warren Joiner chipped in 11 points for the Lumberjacks.

Kyler Rice tallied a team-high seven points for the Badgers.

Inchelium 57, St. Michael’s 53: Quentin Holford scored the final six points of the game to lead the Hornets (2-9) to a come-from-behind win over the visiting Warriors (1-16).

Inchelium outscored St. Michael’s 18-9 in the final quarter to complete the comeback.

Thomas Cohen scored 25 points and grabbed 23 rebounds – including 12 offensive boards – to lead Inchelium.

The Warriors were led by Gabe Durazo’s 29 points.
