Clarkston scored five runs in the fifth and held on to beat West Valley 9-6 in the State 2A playoffs Saturday at Davis High School in Yakima.
Connor Eggleston, Cody Compton and Austin Hansen all hit doubles for the Bantams.
West Valley responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth, but couldn’t muster up any more the rest of the way.
The Eagles, which beat Selah 1-0 in the first round earlier in the day, were eliminated.
Clarkston opened the day with a 2-1 win over West Valley-Yakima in nine innings. Compton and DePaul Blunt combined to hold the Rams to a run on five hits.
Clarkston will play W.F. West in the semifinals Friday in Yakima.
1A: Medical Lake was eliminated after falling to Cascade 17-7 in the second round at Eastmont HS in East Wenachtee.
The Cardinals edged Cle Elum-Roslyn 1-0 in eight innings earlier in the day thanks to a dominating pitching performance from Roman Kissack and Adam Paulson.
Paulson relieved Kissack in the fifth and struck out 11 of the 14 batters he faced. The pair combined to allow seven hits and no runs. Medical Lake finished the season at 20-4 a year after finishing 1-18.
2B: Austin Getz had two hits and three RBIs to guide Colfax to a 9-5 win over Riverside Christian at Walla Walla HS, but the Bulldogs were then ousted 1-0 by DeSales.
DeSales scored in the first inning and rode Tim Richman’s pitching performance the rest of the way. Richman allowed four hits and no runs while striking out eight in seven innings.
Northwest Christian dropped its opener 4-3 to Asotin at Avista Stadium. The Crusaders scored two runs in the sixth to close the gap, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague lost 6-4 to Liberty Bell, which beat Asotin 9-8 in the finale.
1B: Wilbur-Creston and Odessa-Harrington were eliminated in first-round games at University HS. W-C lost to Liberty Christian 13-6 while Odessa-Harrington fell to Colton 6-5. Colton lost to Liberty Christian 2-1 in the next round.
