NWC, St. George’s boys soccer advance to state

The Northwest Christian and St. George’s boys soccer teams secured state tournament berths with regional wins on Friday.

Northwest Christian (7-8) got two goals from Ryan Brandkamp and dumped visiting Valley Christian (8-4) 6-0.

The Crusaders scored four times in the first half to take control.

St. George’s (16-0) rallied for a 3-1 win over Waitsburg-Prescott in Prescott.

After falling behind 1-0, the Dragons’ Michael Hamilton tied the match with his 51st-minute goal. Erik Muelheims then scored the next two goals to put St. George’s on top for good.

Northwest Christian and St. George’s will meet today in the regional title match to determine seeding to state. The Dragons shut out the Crusaders in both of their regular-season meetings.

Waitsburg-Prescott will play host to Valley Christian today in a loser-out, winner-to-state match.
