Some of the top returning girls basketball players in the region signed early letters of intent Wednesday.
Only one is staying close to home. Central Valley’s 6-foot post Mariah Cunningham inked her letter to Eastern Washington University.
Cunningham averaged 13.8 points per game last year while earning first-team all-Greater Spokane League honors.
“We’re really excited about Mariah,” EWU coach Wendy Schuller said in a news release. “She fit in really well with our team the moment she set foot on campus. She has a lot of upside, and I think she’ll be one of the best pure athletes to ever play here. Her work ethic is tremendous, and I think she’ll continue to get better and better because she’s willing to work so hard.”
Guards Hannah Caudill of Gonzaga Prep and Delany Junkermier of Mead are also headed to the Big Sky Conference, both with Montana State.
Coeur d’Alene post Sydney Williams signed with the University of San Diego.
