Vining sparks Indians’ win

 Colton Vining scored his second touchdown of the fourth quarter from a yard out with 15 seconds left to cap Colville’s 35-31 comeback win over Lakeland in a nonleague football game Friday night in Colville.

The Indians (4-2) converted two of Lakeland’s second-half fumbles into touchdowns and outscored the Hawks 28-14 in the final two quarters.

The Hawks (2-4) also lost two fumbles in the first half.

Lakeland scored two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead, but Colville hung around and sealed it with its second-half charge.

Colville’s Zach Shoemaker had an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Vining finished with 91 yards on 16 carries.

Lake City 70, Sandpoint 30: The Timberwolves (4-2) piled up 553 yards of offense en route to a win at Sandpoint (2-4). Jerry Louie-McGee scored four touchdowns for Lake City, three of them on passes from his brother Tucker. Gaven Rostek also had two short rushing scores.

Kettle Falls 26, Bridgeport 7: Austin Anderson rushed for 191 yards on 20 carries, and the Bulldogs (1-5) defense held visiting Bridgeport to 106 yards of offense en route to a win. Anderson scored the first two touchdowns of the game on runs of 6 and 5 yards. The Bulldogs’ Brady Hansen racked up 10 1/2 tackles.

Orofino 48, Colfax 6: Drake Kuykendall ran for three touchdowns as the Maniacs piled up 316 total rushing yards in a win over the host Bulldogs (3-2). Colfax’s score came in the fourth quarter when Keith Gfeller hit Mark Webber from 7 yards out.

Cusick 46, Odessa-Harrington 22: Tyson Shanholtzer and Eli Peterson ran for three touchdowns apiece and the Panthers (3-2) benefited from back-to-back safeties in the second quarter to beat the visiting Titans (3-3).

Rosalia 50, Elgin 26: Clay Shelton rushed for 161 yards and five touchdowns on just seven carries, and teammate Craig Nelson ran for 160 yards and two scores as the Spartans (4-2) beat visiting Elgin.

Great Northern

West Valley 18, Deer Park 7: Jace Malek ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns and the Eagles (3-3, 2-1) came from behind to beat the Stags (1-5, 0-2) in Deer Park. West Valley quarterback Austin Lee threw for 97 yards and a first-quarter touchdown. The Stags were led by Theron Taylor, who ran for 109 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown gallop in the first.

Intermountain League

Priest River 39, Kellogg 20: Jimmy Koch tossed six touchdown passes and the Spartans (4-1, 1-0) beat the host Wildcats (1-5, 0-1).

Medical Lake 32, Chewelah 0: Jackson Tappero scored three first-half touchdowns to the lead the Cardinals (3-3, 2-2) to a rout of the host Cougars (1-5, 1-2). T.J. Johnson added a touchdown run and caught a touchdown pass for the Cardinals.

Riverside 41, Newport 12: Jacob Collins ran for 111 yards and five touchdowns on 17 carries as the Rams (4-2, 3-1) routed the visiting Grizzlies (3-3, 0-3). Quarterback Sam Zanoni ran for 100 yards and threw for 166 yards and a touchdown for the Rams. Riverside’s Dallas Shuler made two interceptions for a total of five picks on the season. Newport’s Ryan Rapp threw for 211 yards and rushed for 93 yards.

Northeast 2B

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 41, Springdale 12: Dylan Hartz ran for two scores and threw for another as the Broncos (5-0, 3-0) built a 41-0 halftime lead and dumped the visiting Chargers (0-5, 0-4). The win was the 18th straight for the Broncos, dating back to the beginning of last season. Connor O’Neill scored the first two touchdowns of the game. He scored on a 4-yard run and hauled in a 17-yard pass from Hartz. Springdale scored twice in the fourth. Jacob Morell ran for a 12-yard touchdown and Jacob McPherson hauled in an 18-yard touchdown pass from Josh Anderson.

Reardan 53, Northwest Christian 20: Wyatt Nieman threw for 100 yards and three touchdowns to guide the Indians (3-2, 2-1) past the visiting Crusaders (0-4, 0-4). Clinton Jeney had 196 yards of total offense and five touchdowns for Reardan.

Davenport 34, Liberty 30: Tommie Wilke’s 17-yard run in the fourth – his fourth rushing score of the game – put the Gorillas (3-3, 2-1) ahead for good in Davenport’s win over the visiting Lancers (2-4, 2-2).

Northeast 1B North

Inchelium-Columbia 64, Wellpinit 44: The Timberwolves (5-1, 3-0) used a late burst to push past the Redskins (1-5, 1-3) in Wellpinit. Edward Stensgar found the end zone four times as Inchelium-Columbia racked up 36 fourth-quarter points. Jason Holt had three rushing touchdowns for Wellpinit.

Republic 52, Selkirk 18: The Tigers (4-2, 4-0) opened a 46-12 halftime lead and cruised past the host Rangers (4-2, 2-2). Aaron Fritts was involved in all eight of the Republic touchdowns with four on the ground and four through the air. Two of his touchdown passes were to Alex Rivera for 40 and 43 yards.

Curlew 64, Northport 6: Chance Wheaton returned the opening kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown and the Cougars (1-4, 1-5) rolled past the visiting Mustangs (0-4, 0-6). Wheaton added first-half touchdown runs of 15 and 52 yards to help Curlew pick up its first win. Kyle Engebretson threw two touchdown passes, and Gunner Brown added two rushing scores for Curlew.

Northeast 1B South

Entiat 56, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 20: Trang Tran threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 91 yards for another score as the Tigers (3-2, 1-2) dumped the visiting Warriors (2-4, 2-2). Dallas Isaak scored the Warriors’ lone offensive touchdown on an 8-yard run in the second quarter.

Wilbur-Creston 82, Pateros 50: Mason Copeland ran for 319 yards, Alex Putman rushed for another 187, and both had three touchdowns on the ground to lead the Wildcats (5-1, 4-0) past the visiting Billy Goats (3-2, 2-2).

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 62, St. John-Endicott 12: Kevin Knauff ran for 244 yards and three touchdowns and the Vikings (1-4, 1-3) topped the host Eagles (2-4, 0-3). Tyler Thurman added 114 rushing yards and a touchdown for Garfield-Palouse. For St. John-Endicott, Wade West ran for 160 yards and a touchdown.
