WSU revokes football scholarship for Freeman’s Rose

The Washington State University football scholarship extended to Freeman standout lineman Jordan Rose has been revoked, Freeman coach Jim Wood confirmed Wednesday evening.

Wood said the confirmation came from the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Rose.

Wood said it’s related to a recent off-the-field incident in which Rose was involved that led to a two-week suspension. Wood said a WSU assistant told Rose he could walk on and earn the scholarship back.

Wood declined to specify the athletic code violation. He said he added two weeks to the suspension, meaning Rose isn’t eligible to return until the first playoff game.

“I wanted him to learn a lesson,” Wood said. “He’s been at practice and is working hard.”
