Rick lifts Selkirk girls into Dist. 7 semifinals

Hannah Rick scored a clutch basket in the mid-post area to put visiting Selkirk ahead with about 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the Rangers held on to defeat Almira/Coulee-Hartline 50-48 in the District 7 1B girls basketball tournament.

Selkirk will play Republic in the semifinals. ACH’s next foe will be Odessa-Harrington.

Republic 66, Odessa-Harrington 45: Lily Beckwith scored a game-high 19 points for the Tigers, who advance to the semifinals. Jordan Tanke led the Titans with 12 points.

Cusick 51, Wellpinit 34: Caytlin Nenema led the Panthers with a double-double scoring 14 points with 11 rebounds in a District 7 2B game at Cusick. Kyra Antone led the Redskins with 15 points. Today’s Curlew-Wilbur Creston winner advances to play Cusick; the loser of today’s game will take on Wellpinit.

District 9 1B

Touchet 57, St. John-Endicott 39: Cierra Jo McKeown lit up the scoreboard with 32 points in leading visiting Touchet to the victory.

St. John-Endicott was led by Abby Glorfield with 12 points. Touchet will travel to Tekoa-Oakesdale on Friday. SJE will play at Colfax on Tuesday.

Pomeroy 53, Rosalia 45: Torrie Koller scored 19 points to lead Pomeroy’s win. Pomeroy will play at Colton in a semifinal on Friday.

Mackenzie Reddish scored 18 points to lead the Spartans.


Brodie Ford scored 24 points and Wellpinit pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Cusick 77-65 in a District 7 1B tournament game at Cusick.

Jason Holt added 19 points for Wellpinit.

Cusick will next meet Selkirk and Wellpinit will play Valley Christian. Both games will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Deer Park.
