Allison Kirby scored 14 points and Jessica Norlander added 13 points and nine rebounds as Timberlake beat Homedale 44-34 in the semifinals of the girls 3A State tournament in Middleton, Idaho.
The Tigers will meet Filer in the title game today at the Idaho Center in Nampa. Filer was last year’s runner-up and Timberlake took second place in 2012.
The Tigers (18-8), who shot just 22.2 percent from the floor in the first half, made 9 of 14 free throws to take a 21-15 lead at halftime.
Homedale was held to three points in the third quarter and couldn’t make up any ground in the fourth.
Homedale will play Priest River today in Middleton for third place.
Filer 44, Priest River 32: Katie Hughes made 9 of 10 free throws and finished with 16 points as the Wildcats overcame a slow start and beat the Spartans (15-8) in Middleton.
Jenna Jarolimek added 15 points for Filer, which outscored Priest River 36-19 after falling behind by five points in the first quarter.
Priest River’s Jill Weimer had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Burley 48, Sandpoint 47: Chelsee Baker had 16 points and eight rebounds and the Bobcats held on in the fourth to defeat the Bulldogs in a consolation game at Mountain View High School in Meridian, Idaho.
Sandpoint rallied late, outscoring Burley 19-12 in the fourth, but couldn’t complete the comeback. Burley held a 37-20 advantage in total rebounds.
Madison Schoening and Hailey Olin scored 17 points for the Bulldogs (13-9), who were eliminated.
It was Sandpoint’s first state appearance since 2004.
