Kyle Guice, JJ Winger and Jacob Dahl finished with 12 points apiece to power the Lake City Timberwolves to a lopsided 79-29 boys basketball victory over Vernon (British Columbia) at the Lake City Winter Tournament on Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.
Winger hit four 3-pointers, while Guice and Dahl each made a pair from behind the arc.
The Timberwolves (7-1) advance to take on South Kitsap at 7 p.m. today. Vernon will meet Lakeland.
South Kitsap 59, Lakeland 48: Also at the tournament, Ryley Callaghan scored a game-high 20 points to boost the Wolves over the Hawks.
Caulin Bakalarski and Logan Knowles scored 12 and 11, respectively, for South Kitsap.
Derek Bayley topped Lakeland with 17 points, while Tyrel Derrick chipped in 13 points.
The Hawks (4-4) trailed 47-43 after three quarters but were outscored 12-5 in the fourth.
Columbia River 54, Sandpoint 24: The Chieftans, who hail from Vancouver, Wash., had no problems in dismantling the Bulldogs (5-3) in the tournament’s final game of the day. Sandpoint will play Wilsonville (Ore.) today.
