Roundup: Schlosser sparks Mead gymnastics

Mead’s Jenna Schlosser won the bars (9.2) and vault (9.1), placed second on the beam (9.215) and floor (9.4) and cruised to the all-around win with a score of 36.825 in a Greater Spokane League gymnastics meet at University.

The Panthers also won the team competition with a combined 171.675, outpointing Mt Spokane (163.75), University (153.025), Ferris (143.25) and Lewis and Clark (128.975)

Mt. Spokane’s Jade Anderson (35.225) was second after finishing third in the bars (8.45) and floor (9.35).

Shelby Kantner of Ferris won the beam (9.35) and took second in the vault (9.0) to take third place overall with a 35.05.


Lewis and Clark 50, Gonzaga Prep 21: Tyler Taylor (170 pounds) set the tone for the Tigers on senior night with a pin over the Bullpups’ Caleb Garbuio at 1:50 in the first match and LC (3-4) cruised to a victory over visiting G-Prep (0-7).

Devin Doneen clinched the match for the Tigers with a 17-6 major decision over Josh Borja at 126 pounds, making the score 42-9 with five matches remaining .

Great Northern

Colville 52, West Valley 18: Jesse Morrison (132 pounds) and TJ Baun (106) both won by first-period pins for the Indians (2-1), who defeated the visiting Eagles (0-3) in a dual meet.

Colville’s Ben Knight secured a hard-fought 5-3 decision at 152 in the midst of the Indians’ six-match winning streak to begin the contest.

Girls basketball


Priest River 53, Kellogg 45: Karly Douglas scored 15, Angelika Clark and Alyssa Carey combined for 16 more and the Spartans (9-5, 4-0) defeated the host Wildcats (6-5, 2-1)

Jessi Gibbons scored 12 points and Kelsey Carter added 10 for Kellogg.


Waterville 43, ACH 38: Elaina Thomsen had a game-high 19 points as the Shockers finished strong to defeat the Warriors at Coulee City. Monique Isaak led ACH with eight points.

Wallace 39, CdA Charter 36: The Miners held off a late rally to hold off the visiting Panthers. No other details were reported.

Boys basketball


Kellogg 68, Priest River 31: Gus Colburn had 16 points and five assists, Jesse Lambert added 14 points and the Wildcats (6-4, 2-1) handled the visiting Spartans.

Jimmy Koch led PR (1-11, 0-3) in scoring with 17.


Waterville 51, ACH 42: Walter Edgar scored 19 points, the Shockers outscored the Warriors 21-6 in a lopsided second quarter and Waterville hung on to win at Coulee City.

ACH’s (6-7) Dallas Isaak led all scorers with 23 points.

CdA Charter 73, Wallace 36: The Panthers jumped out to a 28-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back, beating the visiting Miners. No other details were reported.
