Area cross country runners qualify for national finals

WALNUT, California – Amir Ado (Ferris) finished third in 15 minutes, 40.7 seconds Saturday at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championship West Regionals at Mt. San Antonio College, earning an automatic invitation to compete in the national finals.

On the girls side, Kearen Nelson (Central Valley) took second place in 17:55.9 and Katie Thronson (Lewis and Clark) finished 10th in 18:19.9.

The top 10 boys and the top 10 girls in the seeded races qualified to compete against runners from the South, Midwest and East regional meets in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships National Finals, Saturday at Morley Field, Balboa Park in San Diego.

Claudia Lane of Malibu, California, and Talon Hull of Ogden, Utah, took top honors.
