Nizhole Sherman scored 17 points and Medical Lake (15-7) edged Newport (13-8) 61-55 on Saturday at West Valley HS in a District 7 1A playoff matchup.
Joey Jasmer added 11 points for the Cardinals, which used a 17-5 third-quarter run to pull away.
Medical Lake will face off against top-seeded Freeman in the district championship on Tuesday. Both teams will advance to regionals.
Danny Bradbury tallied a game-high 26 points for the Grizzlies (13-8) while Owen Leslie chipped in 12 points. Newport will play Lakeside on Tuesday for a play-in to regionals.
Freeman 59, Lakeside 38: Michael Coumont scored 16 points and the Scotties (20-1) advanced to the district title game with a victory over Lakeside (11-10).
Freeman led 21-6 after the first quarter and held a 23-point lead at halftime. Ryan Maine finshed with 14 points, Dylan Oja was a spark with 13 points with 10 rebounds and Jackson Clark brought down 10 boards.
Freeman held Lakeside to 0 for 13 from beyond the arc and outrebounded the Eagles 31-17.
District 7 2B at West Valley
Davenport 64, Kettle Falls 48: Jaden Flett scored 16 points and the Gorillas (9-13) ousted the Bulldogs (5-17).
Davenport led by one at halftime and used a 15-4 run in the third quarter to open it up. A.J. Floyd and Peyton Buchanan scored 15 points apiece, Buchanan grabbed nine rebounds and Tanner Abbott added 11 points.
Davenport advances to play Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in a loser-out on Wednesday.
Kyle Keenan and Matt Thompson led Kettle Falls with 10 points apiece.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 37, Wilbur-Creston 34: Bryce Kelly made a 3-point shot with 10 seconds left and the Broncos (10-13) eliminated the Wildcats (7-17).
Kelly finished with 12 points and Patrick Bartz added 10 points for LRS.
Wilbur-Creston was led by Tucker Odegaard with 11 points and Layne Smith with 10.
Asotin 47, Reardan 28: Colton Ball scored a team-high 10 points and the Panthers (12-9) eliminated the Indians (4-19).
Asotin led by three after the first quarter then used a 13-4 run in the second to open it up. Asotin advances to play Springdale in a loser-out on Wednesday.
Cade Francis scored 11 points with 11 rebounds for Reardan.
Springdale 67, Tekoa-Rosalia 38: Chandler Carr scored 24 points with 14 rebounds the Chargers (14-9) eliminated the visiting Timberwolves (4-18).
Tyrone Dorris added 12 points for Springdale, which raced out to a 17-5 lead after the first and pulled away with a 13-4 run in the third.
Steven Brown led Tekoa-Rosalia with 11 points.
District 7 1B at Deer Park
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 67, Wellpinit 59: Peyton Nielsen poured in 26 points with 15 rebounds and the Warriors (20-2) made a fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Redskins (16-6).
Almira/Coulee-Hartline will advance to the district title game next Saturday against Odessa-Harrington.
Nielsen and Mac Isaak powered a 20-9 fourth quarter to comeback for the victory. Isaak finished with 21 points while bringing down 11 boards.
Brandon Flett scored 24 points for Wellpinit and Cedric Bowen added 17 points.
Wellpinit will play in a loser-out game against Cusick on Wednesday.
Odessa-Harrington 55, Selkirk 31: Ryan Moffat scored 15 points and the Titans (14-7) defeated the Rangers (16-5).
Colton Hunt scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Camden Weber scored nine points with eight assists. The Rangers were led by Austin Robertson with 12 points.
Odessa-Harrington will play Almira-Coulee/Hartline on Feb. 18 for the district title, with both teams advancing to regionals.
Selkirk faces Inchelium in a loser-out on Wednesday.
Inchelium 66, Republic 40: Jaden Erickson led all players with 23 points and the Hornets (11-10) eliminated the Tigers (8-14).
Inchelium advances to play another loser-out game on Wednesday.
Nico Rivera and Jasper Summy scored 10 points apiece to lead Republic.
Cusick 44, Columbia 33: Colton Hansen scored 17 points with 17 rebounds and the Panthers (10-11) eliminated the Lions (3-19).
Hansen went 8 of 12 from the line and Cusick scored 14 of its 16 in the fourth quarter on free throws.
District 9 1B
Waitsburg 62, Colton 50: Kyle Gradwohl scored 25 points, Jacob Dunn had 24 and the Cardinals (15-4) handled the Wildcats (13-9).
Waitsburg advances to play Pomeroy on Friday in the district title game. Colton faces Prescott in a loser-out game on Monday.
Brady Chadwick scored 20 points and Grant Kinzer added 13 to lead Colton.
Pomeroy 77, Garfield-Palouse 38: Jake Tewalt scored 25 points and the Pirates (18-2) overmatched the Vikings (11-9).
Pomeroy advances to the District final on Friday, while Gar-Pal faces Oakesdale in loser-out on Monday.
After going up 17-8 after the first quarter, Pomeroy outscored their opponent in all four quarters. Jace Gwinn and Oscar Morfin added 11 point apiece.
Garfield-Palouse was led by Eli Hawkins with 20 points.
Kellogg 72, Bonners Ferry 48: Chase Jerome scored 21 points and the Bulldogs (13-2, 5-0) crushed the Badgers (5-10, 2-4).
Tanner Mueller hit 7 of 8 from the field and sank 5 of 5 from the free throw line for 19 points.
Bonners Ferry was led by Kaleb Stockton’s 16 points and Brady Bateman added 10 points.
Lake City 78, Moscow 61: Kenny Louis-McGee scored 31 points and the visiting Timberwolves (14-5) beat the Bears (6-11) 78-61 in a nonleague game on Saturday. Hunter Pickard led the Bears with 10 points.
Lakeland 58, Timberlake 51: Kaden Davis scored 16 points to lead all scorers and the Hawks (7-12) defeated the visiting Tigers (9-6).
Dylan Vahey hit two big 3’s in the first quarter that got the momentum going for Lakeland, which led 15-7 after the first quarter. Vahey finished with 11 points and Jared Cysewski scored nine points with nine rebounds.
Timberlake was led by Colton Counts with nine points.
Coeur d’Alene 78, Sandpoint 63: Joey Naccarato scored 14 points to lead visiting Coeur d’Alene (10-9) over Sandpoint (3-15).
The Vikings registered 26 points in the second quarter open things up. Sam Matheson added 12 points and Colson Yankoff scored 11 points for Coeur d’Alene.
Robbie Johnson put up 22 points and seven rebounds for Sandpoint.
