Oakesdale boys, girls eliminate Garfield-Palouse

Kieron Anderson finished with a double-double – 18 points, 10 rebounds – and Cal Gregory chipped in with a game-high 19 points and four assists to propel Oakesdale (9-13) to a 65-42 victory over Garfield-Palouse (10-10) in a District 9 1B loser-out game on Monday at Colfax HS.

Austin Rutledge added 15 points for Oakesdale, which trailed by five points after the first quarter.

Mason Bates topped Gar-Pal with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Eli Hawkins added 12.

Oakesdale advances to play Colton in a loser-out on Friday.

Colton 70, Prescott 64: Grant Kinzer led all scorers with 26 points and the Wildcats (14-9) slipped past the Tigers (9-8) in a District 9 1B loser-out game at Colfax HS.

Travis Crockett paced Prescott with 20 points

Timberlake 58, Bonners Ferry 55: Colton Counts scored a game-high 16 and the Tigers (10-6, 5-1) held off the host Badgers (5-11, 2-5) in Intermountain League play.

Brayden Menti and Doc Sommers scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Timberlake.

The Tigers trailed by five entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Badgers 21-13.

Girls

Jacey Johnson poured in a game-high 22 points, accounting for half of her team’s output, and Oakesdale (17-5) breezed to a 44-27 win over Garfield-Palouse (6-10) in a District 9 1B loser-out game at Colfax HS.

Johnson added four assists and five steals for Oakesdale, which took control of the game by outscoring Gar-Pal 14-0 in the second quarter.

Payson Griner topped Gar-Pal with 13 points.

Oakesdale advances to take on Touchet on Friday at Colfax HS.

Touchet 58, Waitsburg 22: Caitlin McGreevy and Katie Skramstad tossed in 15 points apiece and the Indians (9-7) pummeled the Cardinals (2-16) in a District 9 1B loser-out game at Colfax HS.

Dana Jagger finished with 10 points for Touchet, which took control of the game with a 15-5 first-quarter run.

Devon Harsham led Waitsburg with nine points.
