The unbeaten Mead Panthers (7-0) opened the match with three straight pins and breezed to a 46-18 victory over the University Titans (5-3) in Greater Spokane League wrestling action on Wednesday at U-Hi.
Panthers 106-pounder Chase Randall pinned U-Hi’s John Franklin in 45 seconds. Chase Tebbets (113) pinned Cam Domke with 39 seconds left in the third period and Matt Jones (120) completed the trifecta by pinning Tim Westbrook in 1:38.
Mead heavyweight Collin Grosse capped the scoring for the Panthers by pinning Clayton Fincher in 1:40.
The visiting Central Valley Bears (4-2) took advantage of a pair of forfeits, a pin by 138-pound Bridger Beard in the penultimate match and a 3-2 decision by 145-pounder Braedon Orrino to pull out a 51-30 victory over the North Central Indians (4-4).
The Mt. Spokane Wildcats (8-0) used five pins and six forfeits to blow out the visiting Gonzaga Prep Bullpups (0-7) 66-15.
Jake Byers (152) and Manny Holmen (220) notched pins – Byers in the first round and Holmen in the second – to help the Ferris Saxons (3-5) hold off the visiting Rogers Pirates (2-5).
Zella Conley dominated the competition to lead the Mead Panthers to the team title in a five-way GSL meet at Old Mead Middle School.
Conley finished first in all-around, bars, beam and vault and second in floor as the Panthers held off the Mt. Spokane Wildcats 167.425-166.05.
The University Titans (163.725) were third, followed by the Central Valley Bears (158.975). The Cheney Blackhawks also took part in the meet.
