Ryan Chan threw for 312 yards with five touchdowns and Mead routed Shadle Park 64-13 in a nonleague game at Albi Stadium on Thursday.
Chan went 12 of 16 and rushed four times for 39 yards and a touchdown. Kannon Katzer rushed 11 times for 126 with a pair of scores for the Panthers (2-2). Michael Workman caught touchdown passes of 67 and 10 yards.
Xavier Wicks gained 119 yards with two touchdowns on 24 carries for the Highlanders (1-2)
Mead got on the board in the first quarter as Chan connected with Lucas Bacon on a 60-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown. Chad opened the second quarter with a 26-yard scoring run, then threw a 14-yard TD pass to Jonathon Baird and a 1-yard toss to Jacob Dolezal.
The Panthers closed the first half with a 34-yard fumble recovery and return by Nathan Puletassi to make it 35-7 at intermission. Mead outgained Shadle 300-145 in the first half.
Mead’s scoring parade continued on the third play of the third quarter, with Chan hooking up with Michael Workman on a 67-yard touchdown pass. After a fumble by Shadle Park in its own territory, Kannon Katzer carried in from 9 yards for a score to make it 49-7.
On the next possession, Cameron Crawford intercepted Shadle’s Carson Doyle to set Mead up with good field possession once more. Chan connected with Workman for the second time on a 10-yard TD and it was 56-7.
Katzer busted off a 65-yard touchdown run at the end of the third quarter to complete the scoring.
Bacon had two catches for 98 yards and Joe Heitman hauled in three catches for 90 yards for Mead.
