Tre Phillips rushed for 140 yards on 28 carries with two touchdowns – including an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter – and Rogers (2-1) knocked off Ferris (0-3) in a nonleague game at Albi Stadium on Thursday.
It’s the first time the Pirates beat the Saxons since 1997.
Phillips’ go-ahead score midway through the fourth followed a 13-play, 82 yard drive and came on the drive after Ferris’ Evan Giem kicked a 30-yard field goal to put the Saxons up 10-7 late in the third quarter.
Ferris started the scoring with a little over three minutes to go in the first quarter, as Nate Schlosser finished a nine play, 97 yard drive by breaking loose for a 26-yard touchdown run.
Rogers responded on the next drive, going 86 yards in eight plays, culminating with Phillips first touchdown of the game, a 17-yard jaunt.
Zachary Phillips was 9 of 132 for 79 yards for Rogers, while Isaiah Morgan made three catches for 44 yards.
Tom Kirby completed 14 of 26 attempts for 154 yards for Ferris. Eric Mast gained 57 yards on 18 carries and Brock Bozett hauled in nine catches for 117 yards.
