District 7 2A first round
West Valley 48, Cheney 40: Hailey Marlow scored 13 points and the No. 3 seed Eagles (10-11) eliminated the visiting Blackhawks (7-14) on Wednesday. Tori Ivins added nine points and seven rebounds for West Valley. Hailee Huff led Cheney with 10 points. West Valley plays No. 2 seed Clarkston in the district semifinal on Friday.
District 7 1A first round
Chewelah 51, Newport 48: Krislyn Koler scored 18 points and the No. 4 seed Cougars (12-8) eliminated the visiting fifth-seeded Grizzlies (10-11). Jaelynn Skok scored 10 points for Chewelah, including seven points in the fourth quarter. Alika Robinson led Newport with 13 points and Jocelin Nenema brought in 12 points. Chewelah advanced to face No. 1 seed Medical Lake in a semifinal on Friday at West Valley.
Freeman 52, Colville 23: CarolAnn Edwards led a balanced attack with 10 points and the No. 3 seed Scotties (12-8) eliminated the visiting sixth-seeded Indians (7-14). Seven Freeman players scored at least six points. Kaitlyn Petrey led Colville with 12 points. Freeman advanced to take on No. 2 seed Lakeside in a semifinal on Friday.
District 7 1B first round
Selkirk 63, Odessa 42: Gabi Rick scored 27 points and the North Division No. 1 seed Rangers (18-3) defeated the visiting Tigers (7-15). McKennah Davison led Odessa with 18 points. Whitney Dawson scored 13 points and Maddie Wagner added 11 points for Selkirk. The Rangers advance to a semifinal against Curlew on Saturday at Deer Park HS.
Curlew 57, Valley Christian 52: Korin Baker had 19 points and the visiting Cougars (13-7) defeated the Panthers (13-8). Phoebe Trigsted scored 31 points for Valley Christian. VC faces Odessa in a loser-out on Saturday at Deer Park.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 65, Cusick 43: Tiffany Boutain scored 18 points and the South Division No. 1 seed Warriors (19-2) defeated the Panthers (6-14). Sarah Bradshaw added 16 points for Almira/Coulee-Hartline, while Gracie Strangeowl led Cusick with 13 points. ACH advances to a semifinal against Inchelium on Saturday at Deer Park HS.
Inchelium 61, Wellpinit 58: Meika Heath had 28 points with 12 rebounds and the Hornets (16-5) edged the Redskins (11-8). Christina Flett scored 19 points and Jada Orr had 15 for Wellpinit. Rylee Desautel added 11 points for Inchelium. Wellpinit faces Cusick in a loser-out on Saturday at Deer Park HS.
District 9 1B first round
Garfield-Palouse 48, Touchet 40: Katie Arrasmith scored 24 points with 12 rebounds and the No. 4 seed Vikings (11-8) defeated the visiting fifth-seeded Indians (5-8). Payson Griner added 10 points for Garfield-Palouse. Katie Skramstad scored 15 points and Emily Skramstad had 10 for Touchet. Gar-Pal faces No. 1 seed Colton in a semifinal game on Friday while Touchet faces a loser-out on Monday.
Oakesdale 58, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 47: Logan Reed scored 18 points and the No. 3 seed Nighthawks (16-5) eliminated the visiting sixth-seeded Eagles (6-14). Drew Curtis-Brewer led St. John-Endicott/Lacrosse with 18 points. Emma and Lizzy Perry added 13 points apiece for Oakesdale. The Nighthawks face No. 2 seed Pomeroy in a semifinal on Friday while SJEL faces a loser-out on Monday.
Idaho 4A District I
Sandpoint 56, Moscow 50: The No. 1 seed Bulldogs (13-6) topped the second-seeded Bears (7-11) in the first game of a best-of-three championship series at North Idaho College. The teams play again on Friday.
Idaho 3A District I
Timberlake 70, Kellogg 24: …and the No. 1 seed Tigers (19-3) routed the third-seeded Wildcats (8-11) in the district championship game at North Idaho College. Timberlake earns the 1A seed at state while Kellogg will face Bonners Ferry in a play-in game to state on Friday.
Bonners Ferry 70, Priest River 22: Miranda Wenk scored 19 points with 10 rebounds and the No. 2 seed Badgers (17-5) routed the fourth-seeded Spartans (4-18) in a loser-out game at North Idaho College.
Idaho 2A District I-II
Grangeville 64, St. Maries 56: Paige Lindsley scored 15 points, Mikayla Roberts added 10 and the second-seeded Bulldogs (12-9) beat the No. 1 seed Lumberjacks (13-6) in the first game of a best-of-three series at Genesee HS. The teams play again on Thursday. Kaci Haeg scored 17 points and Kaylee Auer added 15 for St. Maries.
