Prep notebook: Bryce Erickson out at Lake City football

Bryce Erickson resigned as coach of Lake City football earlier this week.

The Timberwolves went 5-12 in his two seasons at the helm. Lake City didn’t win a 5A Inland Empire League game in either season.

Erickson was the quarterbacks coach at Idaho before taking the head coaching job at Lake City. He is the son of longtime NFL and college coach Dennis Erickson.

Lake City athletic director Jim Winger said in a statement:

“We would like to wish Bryce the very best. …We have already had quality people from inside and outside of the district inquire about the position. We will move as quickly and thoroughly as possible to get our new head coach.”

New Spartan

Priest River hired Justin Torfin as football coach, according to a release by athletic director Matt George.

Torfin’s most recent job in football was as running backs coach at College of Idaho from 2014-16 and he previously was the recruiting and operations assistant at Utah State from 2013-14.

College commits
