Prep slowpitch softball roundup: University tops Central Valley to preserve undefeated regular season

University 8, Central Valley 7: Brooklyn Hecker had three hits and Lily Allen scored two runs as the visiting Titans (20-0) preserved their perfect regular-season record and defeated the Bears (11-9) under the lights at CV’s Fall Ball Brawl on Tuesday.

CV scored five in the seventh to draw within one but couldn’t find the equalizer.

UHi earns one of the two byes in the GSL district tournament and will host a game on Monday. CV is the sixth seed and plays at Mead in a first-round game on Thursday.

The top three at districts qualify for the state tournament on Oct. 27 at Columbia Playfield in Richland.

Mt. Spokane 7, Lewis and Clark 5: Ashton Cathey went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and the Wildcats (16-4) defeated the visiting Tigers (11-9) to earn the No. 2 seed and first-round bye at the GSL district tournament, edging out Mead which finished 15-5.

Mt. Spokane trailed 4-2 but pushed across five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Madelyn Dibble went 2 for 4 with a triple and a home run for LC, which is the fifth seed and will play at Rogers on Thursday.

Rogers 12, Ferris 2: Jaeylin Snyder and Destiney Sandbergen homered twice apiece and the visiting Pirates (13-7) downed and the Saxons (8-12).

Angie Blystone added two hits including a double for Rogers, which sealed the fourth seed at the GSL district tournament with the win. The Pirates will host a first-round game on Thursday.

East Valley 11, Shadle Park 10 (8): Abby Brake launched a walk-off home run and the Knights (7-12) defeated the visiting Highlanders (1-18) in extras on Tuesday.

Brake finished with three hits for East Valley. Lakiya Anker, Addie Meyer, Emma Todhunter and Stevie Schubach also homered for the Knights. Trinity Richardson and Baylee Bankey led Shadle Park with three hits apiece.

Gonzaga Prep 7, North Central 2: Emily Benn went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI and the visiting Bullpups (6-14) downed the Indians (1-19).

Freshman Sammy Schillereff added three hits, scored twice and drove in a run for Prep. Makayla Juntunen drove in both North Central runs.
