Tahoma lost one set out of 13 to take home first place at the 25th annual Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic championship match Saturday at Lewis and Clark.
The Bears defeated Chelan 25-12, 25-12 in the final match.
The final bracket was played at LC in honor of the late Buzzie Welch, who was memorialized with Sheridan over the weekend at the tourney they co-created.
Freeman finished in third place, tops in the area. The Scotties beat reigning State 4A champions Auburn Riverside in the first round 25-22, 25-27, 15-11. After defeating Mt. Spokane in the quarterfinals, Freeman fell to eventual winner Tahoma in the semifinals 25-14, 25-18.
Coeur d’Alene and Mt. Spokane finished in fifth place after winning their first-round matchups against Cascade (Leavenworth) and Rogers (Puyallup), respectively, before bowing out in the quarterfinals.
Gonzaga Prep and University struggled in their appearance in the platinum bracket, losing back-to-back games to place 13th overall.
