Prep baseball: Kyle Parkman’s homer helps Central Valley top Gonzaga Prep

Greater Spokane League

Central Valley 3, Gonzaga Prep 1: Kyle Parkman hit a home run and drove in three and the Bears (6-2) beat the visiting Bullpups (2-6) on Thursday. Kyle Clay struck out five over five innings and Matt Gabbert picked up the save with two perfect relief innings as they combined on a one-hitter.

Mt. Spokane at North Central: Brady Hill allowed one hit over 4 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and the visiting Wildcats (7-1) blanked the Indians (1-7). Quentin Ayres and Tyler Staley drove in two runs apiece for Mt. Spokane.

Lewis and Clark 32, Rogers 2: Ben Sanchez went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and four runs and the Tigers (2-6) beat the visiting Pirates (1-7) at Hart Field.

Mead 10, Ferris 0: Braeden Cordes went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and the visiting Panthers (6-2) beat the Saxons (5-3) on Thursday. Michael Demand allowed three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in a complete game for the Panthers, who exploded for eight runs in the seventh inning.

University 12, Shadle Park 1: Blake Tellinghusen went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and the Titans (5-2) beat the visiting Highlanders (4-3) on Thursday. Dakota Predmore went the distance in the four-inning game and allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Caleb Morton and Ricco Longo added three hits apiece for the Titans.

Great Northern League

West Valley 7, East Valley 1: George Fisher pitched a complete game, hit a double and the Eagles (2-1) beat the visiting Knights (0-4) on Thursday.


St. George’s 12, Riverside 3: Xander Werkman went 4 for 6 with a double and three RBIs and the visiting Dragons (6-2) defeated the Rams (4-3).


Lake City 6, Lakeland 4: Jackson Scherr went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, Landon Vergeer and Ryan Rios combined to pitch three no-hit innings in relief and the visiting Timberwolves (3-3) beat the Hawks (2-7-2). Scherr had an RBI double and scored on an error two batters later in a three-run sixth inning that made it 4-4 and his two-run single in the seventh capped the scoring.
