Jake Straughan scored 30 points and sealed the game at the free-throw line, and the Colton Wildcats will advance to face Pomeroy in the State 1B boys championship after a 61-58 win over the Shorewood Christian Lions.
Straughan hit two free throws with 12.2 seconds left to go up 61-58, and the Lions could not convert a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
After Shorewood Christian had the game within one point in the third quarter, Straughan nailed two consecutive 3-pointers as part of a 15-4 run which put the Wildcats up 54-32 going into the final period.
But the Lions roared back in the final period. The Wildcat's Dalton Patchen fouled out with just over three minutes left after scoring 22 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, and the Lions took advantage, cutting the lead to just one point again in the final seconds.
Jordan King had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions.
