Idaho preps: Post Falls’ Ridge Lovett wins fourth state wrestling championship, Trojans win back-to-back titles

Post Falls’ Ridge Lovett defeated Ryan Wilson of Centennial 2-1 in the 145-pound weight class to complete an undefeated season (40-0) and became only the eighth wrestler in Idaho history in Class 5A to win four state titles.

Lovett was one of five Trojan wrestlers who took home a first-place medal. The Trojans won their second-straight state title – both by more than 100 points.

Coeur d’Alene finished in second place and Lake City was fourth.

Other Post Falls champions were Lane Reardon (120), Isaac Jessen (126), A.J. De La Rosa (138) – who pinned Nolan Randles of CdA – and Wyatt Shelly (170).

The Vikings had two title winners – Peyton Keough (132) and freshman Gunner Giulio (152).

Lake City’s Caden Hess took the 106-pound title.

In 4A, Lakeland’s Sam Edelblute won the 120-pound title. The Hawks finished sixth a a team.

District basketball

Timberlake (9-14) qualified for state with a 59-52 win over visiting Bonners Ferry (8-15) in the 3A District 1-2 second-place game.

Jackson Pritchard scored 20 points and St. Maries (17-7) beat Grangeville (18-5) in Game 3 of the 2A District 1-2 championship series at Troy HS to earn a berth to state.
